Locate two real entrances
Copy the full arrival and departure addresses from the operators. Long-distance coaches may use a curbside stop, a dedicated terminal or an outer-city transport hub. A map search for bus station can lead to a different service's departure point.
Find the pedestrian route between the actual entrances, not just the pins. Railway tracks, highways and fenced areas can turn a short straight-line distance into a long walk. If the route uses a local bus or metro, include the time and ticket needed for that intermediate trip.
Add the steps inside both terminals
A coach arrival is not the moment you are ready to leave: you may need to collect a bag from the hold and orient yourself. At the railway station, you may face a ticket gate, a lift route or a long platform. Include these tasks when deciding whether a connection is comfortable.
National Rail's station pages provide facilities and access information for British rail stations. Use the equivalent official page at your destination, and consult the coach operator's stop instructions separately. Neither description alone covers the complete interchange.
Check the connection's weakest part
Road traffic can affect the arriving coach, while a train-specific ticket may have limited flexibility. Read the booking conditions and determine whether the journey is sold as a protected connection or as unrelated services. Do not assume an itinerary displayed by a search engine creates an agreement between operators.
If the transfer includes a local bus, check its frequency at the arrival hour. A short route served infrequently may need more buffer than a longer walk. When stairs or uneven surfaces are difficult, ask about the usable step-free path instead of trusting the shortest walking estimate.
Make a missed connection manageable
Identify a later departure before booking and understand what changing to it would require. Save customer-service details for both operators, not just the ticket seller. If a delay develops, seek advice before buying a replacement ticket or abandoning the original itinerary.
Keep a compact arrival note: terminal name, street, walking direction and destination station. That is easier to follow beside a coach luggage hold than a collection of unrelated screenshots. The aim is to arrive with enough information to move calmly between two places that happen to serve the same city.
