Saturday: one reservation, not two competing ones
Choose the Alcázar or the cathedral as Saturday's main booked visit. Check its official entry conditions and arrive with time to find the correct entrance. The other can remain an exterior view on this trip, or replace a later block if it matters more than the park. Trying to compress both into a narrow morning gap leaves little room for queues or attention.
After the visit, walk a limited section of Santa Cruz and have lunch nearby. Then return to your accommodation or another comfortable indoor place for a real break. In warm weather, this is part of the itinerary rather than a failure to keep sightseeing. Carry water on the return and do not rely on every narrow lane being shaded.
Resume in the later part of the day with a short central walk and dinner. Avoid adding a distant neighborhood solely because you feel you should compensate for resting. A meal and the changing evening atmosphere can be the activity, with no further admission required.
Sunday: open space, then Triana
Visit Plaza de España and a manageable section of María Luisa Park during comfortable outdoor conditions. The plaza's scale creates exposed ground, so reduce the time there if heat or weather makes it unpleasant. Have a clear point at which to leave the park rather than following paths until the afternoon is gone.
Later, cross toward Triana and begin around Plaza del Altozano. If you want the market, check its current trading hours before choosing the timing; an evening restaurant visit is not the same experience as a working market. Explore a few neighborhood streets, then use the river view near Calle Betis as a pause rather than another long route.
Keep Sunday dinner or the final meal close to the route for collecting luggage. If you are leaving early, choose the park or Triana instead of both. The sequence is a suggestion, not a demand to fit two full days into a late arrival and early departure.
Rain does not require a longer checklist
Replace an exposed park block with an indoor collection whose opening you have verified, and retain the rest interval. If a fixed reservation falls in poor weather, protect it while shortening the surrounding walk. The weekend works because it has room for conditions, not because every hour contains a landmark.
